About Us
Dr. Stephen. Russell
I pursued my education at the University of Washington, graduating from dental school during the height of the Vietnam War. While serving as an army dentist in Korea, I learned to treat all types of patients and enjoyed immersion in a foreign culture.
After meeting my wife Emma in Monterey, California, we moved to Washington and have lived in the Olympia and Tumwater area since 1973. We raised our four children here and love this beautiful state.
Our dental practice is in a new location at the Bigrock Medical Plaza on Littlerock Road. This move was an opportunity to expand and incorporate new equipment and instrumentation, creating a modern and up to date dental practice. It is a warm and comfortable setting enjoyed by patients and staff.
We continue to provide excellent care in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. Our dental hygienists work hard to educate our patients in healthy homecare. Our office regularly attends continuing education in an effort to provide the latest improvements and changes in dental treatment. I look forward to forming a professional and friendly relationship with all of my patients and welcome you to the practice.
Dr. Steve Russell
Born and raised in Olympia, I met the love of my life, Katie, in the 10th grade. I have two wonderful parents, two older brothers, and a younger sister. Our family continues to grow and I am fortunate to be the uncle of two nephews and a precious little niece.
My passions include skiing, hiking, biking, kayaking, and any other form of outdoor adventure. When home, Katie and I love to curl up on the couch and watch movies or read, and spend time working in the yard. We also enjoy singing in our church choir.
Helping others has always been important to me. I accomplish this in my practice by improving patients’ health, confidence, and self image in a friendly, safe, professional environment. Unfortunately, many impoverished people truly can’t afford routine dental care. This is why my father and I both volunteer regularly at the Union Gospel Mission in downtown Olympia, a free dental clinic.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Puget Sound, and my Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. UW is one of the best dental schools in the world, and my father and I are fortunate to have trained there. Go Huskies!!
In my time at UW, I was honored to receive four Governance and Service Awards, as well as the Washington Academy of General Dentistry Service Award. Other professional interests include active involvement in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), where I currently serve on the board as membership chair. The AGD (www.agd.org/consumer) is the premier organization for continuing dental education. Continuing education is of the utmost importance to me, and allows me to continually provide excellent care to my patients. I am also a member of the American Dental Association (www.ada.org/public), the Washington State Dental Association, and the Thurston-Mason County Dental Society.
